In this post, we’ll round up the best social media marketing tools for bloggers, businesses, freelancers, and agencies.

These tools will help you with:

  • Content Planning: Organize and strategize your social media posts.
  • Scheduling: Automate your posting schedule to save time and maintain consistency.
  • Tracking: Monitor your social media performance and analytics.
  • Engagement: Manage interactions and engage with your audience effectively.
  • Competitor Analysis: Gain insights into your competitors’ strategies.
  • Reporting: Generate detailed reports to assess your social media efforts.

Let’s get started.

My Top Pick
semrush social

Semrush Social

I love Semrush Social for its powerful social media management features: competitor research, analytics tracking, conversation management, and post-scheduling across all networks. Integrated into the Semrush dashboard, it streamlines my entire workflow from content research to publishing.

1. Semrush Social

Semrush Social provides a full-fledged social media marketing tool baked into your dashboard. As a Semrush user myself, this is perfect for managing my blog’s entire online presence — be it on search results or the social media space.

Just imagine: you’re doing some keyword research and find underserved search queries, like questions with low Keyword Difficulty (KD) but high search volume. With Semrush Social’s suite of AI tools, you can quickly create posts that can help establish your brand as an authority on those topics.

To use Semrush Social, go to ‘Social Media’ from the main menu and click ‘Social Dashboard.’ From there, enter your domain name and click ‘Start now.’

Semrush Social

The next step is to link the social profiles you want to manage. Just click ‘Set up’ under “Owned social profiles” to continue.

Semrush Social profile Setup

This will open up the Social Poster setup window. To link an account, click ‘Connect’ next to the social media network you want to use.

Semrush Social connecting a social profile

To set up your social media posting schedule, click ‘New post’ to launch the post editor. In the ‘Schedule’ tab, click ‘Add time’ and set your new posting time slot.

That’s it — you’re ready to unload all of Semrush Social’s content planning features to dominate the socialsphere.

For example, if you want to generate social media posts with AI, just launch the Social Poster and click ‘AI Assistant.’ You can instantly produce posts with the generative AI, automatically paraphrase text, or generate content ideas.

Semrush Social AI Assistant menu

Let’s say you want to start from scratch. All you need to do is describe what you want to write about, specify your desired tone of voice, and set the post type you want to create.

Semrush Social write with AI tool

For the sake of this article, I used the prompt “blogging online course time-limited discount to help beginners make money online.” I also set the post type to be a promo and specified “professional” as the tone of voice.”

Here’s what Semrush Social’s AI created for me:

Semrush Social AI-generated text

To use the generated text, click ‘Use this text’ so you can finish creating the whole post.

The Social Poster lets you add media assets, GIFs, emojis, tags, and tracking parameters. When you’re done, just use the publishing options below to set a posting schedule or upload your post immediately.

Semrush Social Poster

Another feature worth mentioning is Semrush Social’s content ideation tool. To use this, just click ‘Social Content Ideation,’ enter your website URL, and write a brief description.

Within seconds, Semrush Social will provide you with a list of content topic clusters with individual subtopics you can focus on. The good news is, you’ll be able to use the generative AI tool from there — just click ‘Generate’ and you should be able to schedule or post something eye-catching in no time.

Semrush Social Features

Feature Description
AI content assistant Use AI to automatically identify content ideas that can win your target audience’s attention on social media.
Publish content multiple times While running a promotion campaign, you can schedule the same post to publish multiple times in set intervals.
Track multiple social media brands Use the Social Tracker to stay on top of the social media profiles of multiple brands and refine your strategy based on top performers.
Manage your influencer marketing campaigns in-app Semrush Social’s Influencer Analytics feature will help you find potential influencers, manage costs, and track competitors (that use influencer marketing) — all in the same app.
AI-powered content ideation Save time through the content research process by letting Semrush Social’s AI content ideation tool extract trending topic ideas for you in seconds.

Semrush Social Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Manage every aspect of your online presence with one tool. Whether you’re trying to bolster your website’s SEO or optimize your social media channels, Semrush has everything you need compiled into one platform. There’s no need to waste time and switch between multiple tools to manage your day-to-day marketing tasks.
  • Simplified analytics report that focuses on crucial information. Semrush doesn’t beat around the bush and lets you dive into datasets that you really need to know. Get straight answers to questions like where your followers are from, which industries your followers are interested in, and more.
  • Create feeds with the latest and most attention-grabbing content ideas. Semrush’s Social Poster tool allows you to create content feeds that automatically collect the latest news in your industry. This will provide continuous access to an ever-growing list of topic ideas that can garner your target audience’s attention.
  • Advanced competitor and content research. Semrush Social takes advantage of the tool’s research and analysis capabilities to provide you with reliable, actionable insights. Leverage up-to-date data to ensure your social media marketing strategies are based on the latest, hard facts in your niche.

Cons

  • No posting time recommendations. Semrush Social doesn’t provide recommended posting times that could positively impact the visibility of your content.
  • Still need to buy Semrush Social as a separate tool. Despite integrating smoothly with the platform, the Semrush team still treats Semrush Social as a separate tool. That means you still have to pay for it — on top of your subscription payments.

Who is Semrush Social for?

Semrush Social is for anyone who needs a more cohesive platform to manage and grow their online presence, but its pricing model can be a bit high for cash-strapped startups. It costs an additional $29.99 per month (in addition to a required Semrush subscription, which starts at $129.95).

2. SocialBee

There are two ways to set up SocialBee for social media management: using the social media copilot to kickstart your content publishing and building a collaborative social media management workspace for your team.

SocialBee setup page

With the social media copilot, SocialBee will generate an optimized content plan for you based on your answers to a few questions, such as:

  • What is your website?
  • What are the services that you offer?
  • Who are your target customers?
SocialBee copilot conversation

Based on my experience, SocialBee’s copilot will recommend a strategy that matches a standard social media campaign for promising engagement and growth. This includes content categories and recommendations that your target audience will find useful.

Just be mindful that other social media content recommendations might push you out of your comfort zone, like hosting a live webinar or Q&A session.

SocialBee copilot recommendations

Of course, you’re free to modify the suggested social media content plan as you see fit — like I did when I set up copilot for the first time. You can add more posting time slots, input additional content categories, and so on.

If you’d rather build your social media content plan from scratch, just head to your dashboard or the ‘Content’ page. You’ll find all the tools you need for hashtags, links, media assets, content curation channels, and more.

SocialBee Features

Feature Description
Content planning automation tools SocialBee offers a lot of convenient content planning tools, which are useful for solo bloggers like me who handle mostly everything by myself.
Professional marketplaces No need to go to external freelancing marketplaces to hire the service providers you need — you can do everything within the SocialBee platform.
Third-party integrations There are plenty of ways to simplify content scheduling with SocialBee, like via Zapier, Pocket, or the browser extension.
Social media analytics Since SocialBee consolidates data from all your social networks, you don’t need to jump between multiple apps to figure out the necessary adjustments to improve your strategy.

SocialBee Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Copilot saves you from a lot of head-scratching and time-consuming planning. As a solo blogger, I know that social media marketing takes precious time away from other important tasks like content writing, research, and SEO. SocialBee’s copilot saves the day by automating most of the planning work.
  • Outsource help from SocialBee experts to get guaranteed results. Thanks to SocialBee’s partnership with Fiverr, it’s easier than ever to hire professionals who can bridge knowledge and skill gaps for social media marketing. You can also use the ConciergeBee store to hire professionals who can help elevate your brand’s social media presence.
  • Save even more time by posting on non-social networks. SocialBee’s “Universal Posting” feature allows you to schedule posts on non-social-media channels, like Quora, Mastodon, and WhatsApp. All I have to do is set my account name, photo, and network — the posting tools I need will then appear in my SocialBee dashboard.

Cons

  • Some recommendations are not relevant or useful to your objectives. SocialBee uses a lot of AI-powered automation to provide suggestions, be it for scheduling or content planning. Unfortunately, the AI sometimes pushes suggestions that aren’t helpful to your current social media marketing goals.
  • The outdated UI appears cluttered in some places. SocialBee is nearly a decade old, which means a lot of its design isn’t optimized for today’s omnichannel social media marketing practices. The dashboard, for instance, is cluttered with buttons for connecting various social media profiles to your SocialBee account.

Who is SocialBee for?

SocialBee is a packed social media management platform designed for bloggers and businesses without an in-house team. Its monthly plan starts at $29 per month for one user and up to five social media profiles.

3. SocialPilot

SocialPilot is another AI-centered social media management platform built for teams.

As soon as you log in to your SocialPilot dashboard, you’ll be able to link the social media accounts you need to manage. It also becomes immediately apparent that the platform is best used with team members collaborating toward your social media marketing goals.

Above the fold, you get a summary of tasks that can be assigned to individual team members, which is incredibly helpful if you have people working on different tasks — like post creation, reviews, and publishing.

SocialPilot tasks manager

For agencies using SocialPilot to handle multiple clients, you can combine related profiles into groups to manage their campaigns separately. You may also use groups if you run multiple websites, businesses, branch locations, and so on.

Social Pilot Profile Groups

WIth your proifles and groups ready, there’s one last step you need to complete to set up SocialPilot. From the main menu, go to ‘Accounts,’ select ‘Manage Accounts,’ and click on the social media profile you want to manage.

SocialPilot account management menu

On the account page, feel free to modify the auto-generated posting schedule recommended by SocialPilot. Click the small ‘x’ icon next to the time slot you want to remove and use the “Add Schedule” form to specify new posting times.

SocialPilot Features

Feature Description
Advanced content creation tool (with AI) SocialPilot makes it easy to create engaging posts with the Canva integration, custom fields, hashtags, and the AI text generator.
Bulk post scheduling To save time, prepare a list of posts via a CSV file and import it into SocialPilot for automatic scheduling.
Custom social media reports Make analytics tracking and decision-making more streamlined with SocialPilot’s custom reporting tool.
Build your reusable content library Use your SocialPilot content library to easily manage our hashtags or modify and reschedule posts.

SocialPilot Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Task management fosters collaboration and productivity across social media teams. SocialPilot’s team-first design helps agencies and businesses take action on campaign objectives.
  • Shared drafts accelerate the review and approval processes. Easily create, save, review, and schedule posts within SocialPilot (no need for external content planning or editing tools).
  • Auto-schedule posts from your website’s blog through RSS feeds. Automate the entire content-sharing aspect of your marketing through the “Feed Content” tool.

Cons

  • No onboarding experience. While SocialPilot is easy enough to learn, new users are thrust into action as soon as they log in — initially slowing down productivity.
  • Heavily designed with teams in mind. Individual users (e.g., solo bloggers and influencers) may not get the full SocialPilot experience, especially with the limited “Professional” plan.

Who is SocialPilot for?

SocialPilot is a social media management platform built for teams. It starts at $30 per month, but you’ll need to get at least the $100 per month plan to unlock all tools.

4. HootSuite

Hootsuite is one of the most trusted social media marketing platforms in the market.

Despite its age, Hootsuite offers a modern and effortless setup experience. Just create your account, connect your social media profiles, and start creating posts like a champ through the Hootsuite composer.

Hootsuite Welcome Page

The Hootsuite composer lets you plan regular posts, pins, and advertising campaigns on select networks. When creating a new post, you do everything in one window — including writing your caption, inserting visual assets, using the Canva integration, previewing your post, and setting a schedule.

Hootsuite Composer

For a faster way to get posts out with Hootsuite, head to the ‘Inspiration’ page to fire up the OwlyWriter AI tool. This speeds up content creation by generating text from a handful of sources, including previous posts, website content, and simple captions.

Hootsuite OwlyWriter Menu

To finish setting up your Hootsuite dashboard, head to the ‘Planner’ to view and modify your social media calendar.

Here, you’ll see the recommended posting times for maximum user engagement. You can also launch the Hootsuite composer straight from your calendar — which makes it easy to plan and flesh out your social media calendar.

Hootsuite Features

Feature Description
Built-in content ideation tool Never run out of content ideas and keep your social media posting in high gear with the “Inspire” tool.
Manage all your social media interactions Hootsuite’s “Streams” feature allows you to stay on top of all conversations and interactions across all your social media profiles.
Social media ads management Apart from managing your social media ad campaigns, Hootsuite’s “Boost” feature automatically boosts ads based on your promotion objectives.
Insight-focused reporting Hootsuite’s reporting focuses on bringing you actionable insights, like your effective posting times, top-performing posts, and most relevant engagement metrics.

Hootsuite Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Efficient onboarding experience to smoothen the learning curve. Hootsuite’s approach to onboarding ensures you learn important information as you explore the platform, making it extremely beginner-friendly.
  • Consolidate your organic and paid social media marketing efforts. Unlike most social media management tools, Hootsuite also lets you manage your paid advertising campaigns without opening another browser tab.
  • No-nonsense analytics tools and report templates simplify decision-making. Hootsuite can give you direct and actionable insights if you want, but it also provides ready-to-use report templates if you want to improve your analysis process.

Cons

  • Very expensive price tag for single users. Hootsuite’s pricing model is only practical for businesses or brands with small social media marketing teams.

Who is Hootsuite for?

Hootsuite does have everything a solo blogger, influencer, or entrepreneur needs to thrive in the social media space. However, its entry-level pricing of $149 per month (monthly billing) only makes financial sense if you are already popular or work with a team.

5. Metricool

Metricool is a unique social media management platform with a heavy emphasis on data analytics and reporting. Regardless, it comes equipped with every tool you’ll ever need to run successful social media marketing campaigns — from a content planner to competitor analysis.

To set up your Metricool dashboard, highlight the icon of the platform you want to use and click the “plus” button.

Metricool Profiles Menu

After connecting a social media profile, you’re ready to start creating and scheduling posts. Just switch to the ‘Planning’ tab to nail down the scheduling side of your social media content strategy.

Metricool Calendar

Here, you can start scheduling posts from scratch based on the best times to publish on your selected network. Metricool’s post editor may lack certain useful features, like a Canva integration or hashtag manager, but it comes with unique tools like presets and saved texts.

However, it’s worth mentioning that content publishing isn’t exactly Metricool’s top priority. Where they really shine is the analytics aspect of social media marketing — thanks to their data-rich reports and built-in competitor analysis feature.

Feature Description
Comprehensive social media reporting In addition to the individual platform-specific reports, Metricool also offers a comprehensive summary report of your entire social media presence, perfect for omnichannel-first brands.

Flexible bulk scheduling Metricool allows you to bulk-schedule posts using AI, CSV imports, RSS feeds, and manual inputs.
Group accounts into “brands” With Metricool, you can group related accounts and channels (e.g., website and Google Business Profile) into a single brand, which can refer to an individual client, company, or product.

Metricool Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Advanced analytics give you an eagle-eyed view of your online presence. Metricool has some of the most robust and reliable analytics reports in the competition, making it suitable for those who are keen on making data-driven decisions.
  • Get granular control over user access and roles for teams. If you work with a social media team, easily assign roles with specific permissions to streamline your workflows.
  • Analyze your website content in the same dashboard. Metricool can also track your website’s performance data, giving you a single source of truth for all your marketing efforts.

Cons

  • The Metricool post editor is geared towards retail brands and businesses. Features like saved texts and presets are suited for companies trying to sell products, but not for influencers or bloggers who want to build their personal brands.

Who is Metricool for?

Metricool is relatively affordable for individual users — costing only $22 per month for the entry-level plan. However, its combination of features is clearly built with businesses in mind who need to sell products and publish thousands of social media posts.

  • Wide range of third-party integrations. Sprout Social boasts a range of integrations outside of social media networking, like Salesforce, Tableau, Zendesk, and Glassdoor.

Cons

  • Very expensive. Sprout Social’s price points can be too expensive, even for businesses with in-house marketing teams.

Who is Sprout Social for?

Sprout Social is for established influencers, bloggers, or large companies that need to take their online brands to the next level. With monthly billing, their entry-level “Standard” plan costs a steep $249 per user per month — and that’s without modern features like paid social reporting and AI features.
