Need to delete tweets in bulk?

X.com (formerly Twitter) currently doesn’t have native tools for doing a mass cleanup of your profile. But with the help of the tools below, you can get the job done with just a few clicks.

Let’s get started.

My TOP Pick

Circleboom

Circleboom is my go-to for managing my Twitter account. I love how it lets me delete tweets, use filters, and remove likes effortlessly. Its advanced features like follower tracking, analytics, and account search, make my social media management easy and cost-effective.

How to Delete Your Tweets Natively

Deleting your tweets on X natively is a straightforward process.

After logging in, click ‘Profile’ under the left menu (on mobile, tap your profile picture in the top-left corner first).

Twitter Profile Button

In the “Posts” tab, look for the tweet you want to delete and click the three dots icon in the upper-right corner. From there, just click ‘Delete’ and you’re done!

Best Tools to Bulk Delete Tweets

X’s built-in tweet deletion features are perfectly fine, especially if you only need to delete one tweet at a time.

But if you need to delete tweets in bulk, you’ll need a third-party tool to get the job done.

Here are your top options:

1. Circleboom (Get 35% Discount Here)

Price: $27.99 per month ($18.19 per month with discount)

Circleboom offers a lightweight but powerful Twitter Management Tool that can help you build and maintain an authoritative presence on the platform.

Its core features include cleaning up your followers list and Twitter feed, helping you maintain a pristine and trustworthy image on social media. It will also help you get more reliable metrics for your analytics.

How to delete tweets using Circleboom

To delete tweets with Circleboom, just log in to your account and select the ‘My Tweets’ button (trash can icon).

From there, you have two options for deleting tweets: ‘Delete Last 3,200 Tweets’ and ‘Delete All Tweets or Apply Filters.’

Circleboom Delete Options

If you select ‘Delete Last 3,200 Tweets,’ the next step is to define the types of tweets you want to delete as well as their age and language.

Circleboom lets you mass-delete your regular tweets, re-tweets, replies, and quotes. When it comes to age, you can choose between the pre-set time ranges for the tweets to be deleted — from “less than 1 week old” to “less than 1 year old.”

When you’re happy with your settings, click the red delete button at the bottom and that’s it.

If you want to delete all tweets you ever posted in one go, just select ‘Delete All Tweets’ in the “Age of Tweets to Delete” drop-down menu. Or, just click ‘Delete All Tweets or Apply Filters’ on the main menu.

To use this tool, you need to log in to your Twitter account, download your entire archive, and upload the ‘tweet.js’ file to Circleboom.

Can’t find where to download your Twitter archive?

Just log in to Twitter, click the three dots icon, and go to ‘Settings and privacy.’ On the settings menu, go to ‘Your account’ and click ‘Download an archive of your data.’

Remember that downloading your Twitter archive also lets you view tweets that are already deleted. This is useful since X doesn’t have a native tool for recovering lost tweets.

After uploading your tweets, you still have the option to set filters to prevent certain posts from being deleted.

Other Circleboom features

  • Delete likes — Circleboom offers a similar tool for deleting likes. You can delete your last 3,200 likes or all of them with filters.
  • Follower/friends management — If you need to clean up your following from fake or inactive accounts, Circleboom can help you out with that as well. The platform automatically analyzes and filters out connections who are inactive, marked as spam, or “low-quality” along with influential connections you should nurture.
  • In-depth user analytics — Circleboom’s enterprise-level allows you to analyze Twitter users across multiple dimensions and categories. This includes gender, language, tweets, interests, and more.

2. TweetDelete

Price: $6 per month (starting at 100 tweets only)

TweetDelete is a specifically-designed tweet deletion tool that can clean up your profile in a jiffy. It can delete tweets and likes while also allowing you to set filters to save your top tweets from deletion.

TweetDelete

It’s worth noting, however, that TweetDelete is a paid app with different limitations per plan. At minimum, you need to spend $6 per month to delete up to 100 tweets, which refreshes monthly.

Other TweetDelete features

  • Set tweet deletion filters — With TweetDelete, you can set filters that can weed out previous tweets with inappropriate language. You may also set filters based on specific keywords that may be irrelevant to the brand you’re currently building.
  • Advanced mode — TweetDelete allows you to systematically delete tweets in bulk via numerical ID. This is useful for agencies or big businesses with a large pile of past tweets to sort out.
  • Export tweets to spreadsheet — If your team needs a little bit more time to clean up your tweets, you can use TweetDelete to export your data into a spreadsheet. This makes it easier to scan and evaluate your entire Twitter history in one page.

3. Redact

Price: Free for Twitter only ($95.88 per year for Premium)

Redact is a mass-deletion tool not just for tweets, but also posts and messages on other networks. This includes Reddit, Facebook, Slack, Discord, and more.

As for tweet deletion, Redact lets you bulk delete based on time, keyword, content type, hashtag, and attributes.

Redact

Just be aware that Redact is a desktop app that requires a complete download and installation to use. On the plus side, this makes it easier to manage and focus on your cleanup efforts — plus, you get a lot of Quality of Life features to streamline the process.

Other Redact features

  • Auto-connect your accounts — If you have a lot of social media profiles and instant messaging accounts, Redact can automatically link your accounts in less than a minute. Just use the “Scan Browser” feature to detect all supported social networks and services.
  • Wide range of integrations — Redact can help you manage your accounts in over 30 services and networks. This includes all major social networking sites and popular live messaging tools, like Discord, Slack, and Skype.
  • Smart automated deletion — You can use Redact to set an automatic deletion schedule, keeping your Twitter account clean and professional. Specify deletion conditions like sentiment, content type, and keywords to avoid mistakes.

4. TweetDeleter

Price: $59.88 per year

TweetDeleter is an officially-supported profile management tool for deleting content that can negatively affect your brand image. Its core feature is the “Search and delete” tool, which lets you bulk delete tweets based on a list of filters — from keywords included to the date of posting.

TweetDeleter

Of course, you can also use the “Delete all” tool to clean up everything — all the way back to your first tweet. And similar to Circleboom, you also need to upload your Twitter archive to make this feature work.

Other TweetDeleter features

  • Automatic tweet remover — TweetDeleter lets you configure an automated tweet deletion process that can delete hundreds of tweets per minute on its own. Just set the rules and conditions of your automatic deleter and you’re all set.
  • See deleted tweets — When you delete tweets through TweetDeleter, the platform automatically saves copies of those tweets for later viewing. This allows you to recover your tweet content in case they’re deleted by mistake.
  • Search and remove likes — Just like Circleboom, TweetDeleter’s features are also available for managing your likes. You can use this to prevent yourself from being associated with topics or brands that aren’t inappropriate in the eyes of your audience.

What are Other Alternatives to Deleting?

Like I mentioned earlier, Twitter doesn’t offer a built-in feature that recovers deleted tweets. Your only bet is to download a copy of your Twitter archive, which contains a copy of your tweets.

If you don’t want non-followers to see your tweets, another option is to set your account to private. Bear in mind that X doesn’t allow you to set the privacy setting of individual tweets — just your account as a whole.

To set your privacy settings, log in to Twitter, select ‘More,’ and click ‘Settings and privacy.’

Twitter Settings and privacy button

On the “Settings” page, go to ‘Privacy and safety’ and click ‘Audience, media and tagging.’

Finally, enable ‘Protect your posts’ by clicking on the checkbox. Click ‘Protect’ in the pop-up window to complete this step.

Final Words

Maintaining a solid and reputable presence on social media will help you build a trustworthy brand in the eyes of users and search engines alike. Use the tools above to keep your Twitter feed squeaky clean.
